Great news for American travelers to Scotland. Edinburgh Airport will add a new and separate international immigration hall and baggage reclaim area as part of a multi million pound extension plan. The reason? Long haul traffic at the terminal increased almost 90% last year thanks to new routes to the Middle East and America.
UK Prime Minister David Cameron recently visited the site and suggested that “[T]he expansion of Edinburgh Airport is great news for Scotland and for the whole of the UK. It will open the door to more long-haul flights and new routes, meaning more tourism, more trade and more jobs for people here in Edinburgh and beyond”.
Righto – all good. Lets work to get air fare prices down by removing Scotland’s obligation to lay high taxes on air travel. We might be all smiles then!
