Scottish Clans & Families Global Alliance:
Scots working together at the planetary level
Since early in 2012, the Standing Council of Scottish Chiefs (SCSC), Council of Scottish Clans & Associations (COSCA) and Scottish Australian Heritage Council (SAHC) have engaged in an informal ongoing dialogue and communication discussing many of the pressing, promising and problematic issues affecting the Scottish ancestral and heritage communities. Early in 2013, we enthusiastically welcomed Clans and Scottish Societies of Canada (CASSOC) into our network and our dialogue expanded to comprehend much more of the Scottish globe. We hope to expand our discussions to include leaders of similar groups that are interested in participating our work and discussion.
Our friends from the north sent the creative and energetic Jo Ann M. Tuskin U.E. down from Toronto, Canada to represent our northern neighbor at the Grandfather Mountain Caucus this year. Jo Ann is the Secretary of the Clans & Scottish Societies of Canada (CASSOC) and we were thrilled to hear all of the great work that is going on up north.
Jo Ann has sent us a few gems that she recommends for Membership Chairpersons of clans and organizations who are seeking to improve membership numbers:
We are also thrilled to report that our own Judy Lloyd of the USA based Scottish District Families Association will be working with CASSOC and Jo Ann over the next few months to create a new Canadian Scottish District Families Association. This new Canadian organization will give Scots who do not hail from a clan background a home organization for the first time ever. Thanks go to Judy and Jo Ann for taking this on.
Greetings From Down Under: SAHC sends good will and good ideas
Timing is everything they say and the timing of the Grandfather Mountain Scottish Clan Caucus was not good for Malcolm Buchanan, President of the Scottish Australian Heritage Council (SAHC). We are sorry that Malcolm could not join us in North Carolina for this inaugural Caucus but we will try to get him here in the future. For now, we are extremely pleased and privileged to bring you the written greetings and comments of the Scottish Australian Heritage Council on the occasion of the first annual Scottish Clan Caucus:
