The 28th Chief of Clan MacLeod inherited Dunvegan Castle in 1935
Associated Clan MacLeod Societies announced the republishing of “Dame Flora – The Biography of Dame Flora MacLeod of MacLeod,” which was first published in 1974 but out of print for many years. The book was written by Anne Wolrige Gordon who was married to Patrick, grandson of Dame Flora. Dame Flora was born in 1878 at 10 Downing Street. In 1935, at the age of fifty-seven, she became the 28th Chief of Clan MacLeod and inherited Dunvegan Castle. During WW2 Dame Flora kept open house at Dunvegan to MacLeods in the overseas armed services forging many of the links which transformed her life after the war.
